How a microservices platform removed manual purchase order entry from a Fortune 100 retailer's workflow into Inspectorio, its SaaS quality inspections platform — cutting inspection delays and getting products to stores on time.
Inspectorio is a SaaS supply chain management platform whose core product is quality inspections. The retailer uses Inspectorio's Quality Risk Management (QRM) product to drive inspection bookings, assignments and reporting for goods sourced through its supply chain. That inspection process is only as reliable as the purchase order data feeding it — factory, vendor, product line and product category IDs all have to line up before an inspection can even be booked.
That PO data was being entered into Inspectorio by hand. With hundreds of purchase orders moving through BambooRose PLM at any given time, manual entry introduced frequent mismatches — an incorrect factory ID, a missing product category, a vendor ID that didn't match what Inspectorio had on file. Every mismatch meant a rejected or misconfigured PO.
The knock-on effect was the real cost: a rejected PO couldn't be booked for inspection. A delayed inspection pushed back the quality sign-off. A delayed sign-off delayed the shipment. And a delayed shipment meant the product launch at stores slipped — sometimes by weeks.
The retailer needed the data flowing from BambooRose into Inspectorio to be accurate, current and hands-off — with no one re-typing PO numbers, style details or factory assignments between systems.
